2017-2018
At the first meet of the year Riedel finished in 3rd place in both the 1650freestyle & 200 backstrokes against Northern State. Next up was dual with Minnesota Moorhead where Riedel had finishes of 5th in the 1650 freestyle & 4th in the 200 backstroke. In the dual meet against Sioux Falls, Riedel finished 4th in the 1650 freestyle & 5th in the 200 backstroke. Against Augustana Riedel finished 4th in the 1000 freestyle and 5th in the 200 backstroke. In the dual meet against Northern State Riedel finished 3rd in the 1000 freestyle. Against Concordia College Riedel finished 2nd in the 500 freestyle. Competing in the freestyle & backstroke events at the Dragon/Cobber Invite, Riedel had finishes of 15th in the 500 freestyle, 11th in the 200 freestyle, 8th in the 200 freestyle, 11th in the 1650 freestyle, & 7th in the 200 backstroke. During the Dragon Invite Riedel had finishes of 8th in the 1000 freestyle, 13th in the 500 freestyle, & 9th in the 1650 freestyle helping the team to a 2nd place finish. At the 2018 NSIC Championships Rachel finished 14th in the 200 yard backstroke. Rachel had a great second season with the Marauders Swimming and Diving swimming backstroke and distance freestyle events.

2016-2017
Competed in nine dual meets and at the NSIC Conference. Opening day of the 2017 Northern Sun Swimming and Diving Championships Rachel Riedel placed 18th with a mark of 11:20.63 in 1,000 yard freestyle. Efforts for the second straight day the 400 medley relay team of Rachel Riedel, Maddi Smith, Sam Behm and Brittny Dye claimed 13th in 4:28.66. Third straight day at the 2017 Northern Sun Swimming and Diving Championships Riedel claimed 16th overall after reaching the finals by posting her career-best time of 5:17.15 in the finals on 500 free. Mohktary, Riedel, Maddi Smith and Sam Behm combined to place 12th in a time of 8:22.1. For the second straight semester, Rachel Riedel representing the Marauders earned the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team honors after posting a team grade point average of 3.50 during the 2017 spring semester. Rachel contributed to the program in the freestyle and backstroke events.

PRIOR TO UMARY
A qualifier for the Maryland junior championships and state championships, Rachel Riedel is a native of Frederick, Maryland, and swims for the Monocacy Aquatic Club. During the 2014-15 season for ages 15-16 she was listed in the top 50 in Maryland in six different events, including the 200 back, 500 free, 1000 free, 1,650 free (all short course yards) and the 200 back and 1500 free (long course meter).
 
A National Merit Scholarship Program commended student, a National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar and a member of the National Society of High School Scholars who volunteers as a peer minister, Rachel is the daughter of Helena Riedel and John Riedel-Alvarez and will pursue a degree in mathematics education at the University of Mary.
 
"Rachel is a distance and backstroke swimmer who is a great addition to our program," said Marauders head coach Allan McCallum. "She has a great work ethic and will be able to contribute to the team in a variety of ways. Rachel is a very driven and strong competitor."
