BURNSVILLE, MN – The University of Mary remains fourth overall in the 2021-22 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference All-Sports standings after the conclusion of the winter season. Showing consistency across the board and the combined strength of both the men's and women's programs, the Marauders stand fifth in the men's standings and sixth in the women's rankings in the 16-team league.
UMary was locked in a 3-way tie for fourth place in the NSIC All-Sports standings at the conclusion of the fall season but has solidified its position in the standings through two seasons.
This winter the Marauders finished 2
nd in the women's indoor track & field championships, 4
th in the men's indoor track & field championships, 5
th in the wrestling standings, 7
th in swimming & diving, 11
th in men's basketball and 12
th in women's basketball.
In the fall the Marauders finished 2
nd in both the men's and women's cross country NSIC championships. UMary was 6
th in women's soccer, 10th in football and 13th in volleyball.
Due to no spring or fall season in 2020 and an abbreviated winter in 2020-21 due to the pandemic, the NSIC did not award the All-Sports title for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons.
Augustana leads the overall NSIC All-Sports standings with 137.333 through the 2022 winter season. Minnesota State (115) is second, followed by Minnesota Duluth (96.333), UMary (91), Northern State (90.5), Sioux Falls (85), St. Cloud State (78), Winona State (76), MSU Moorhead (71), Concordia-St. Paul (66.5), Wayne State (66), Bemidji State (56.833), Minot State (55.5), Southwest Minnesota State (49.5), Upper Iowa (480 and Minnesota Crookston (9.5).
The winner of each title in a conference-sponsored championship receives points totaling the number of teams in that sport plus one. The next place finisher receives points totaling the number of teams less the number of places from first place. Ties in the standings at any level shall result in the totaling of points and equal distribution.
The NSIC All-Sports Champion is announced following the spring season, with the award being presented at the NSIC Summer Kickoff in July 2022.
