The 2010-11 athletic season proved tremendously successful for the Marauders with an impressive amount of honors bestowed upon our student-athletes. All-American status is the ultimate individual honor and our student-athletes were recognized 37 times. Regional honors were bestowed 45 times. In the Northern Sun, Marauders earned 78 all-conference citations and 17 claimed individual conference championships. Two times Marauders were named the NSIC athlete of the year. U-Mary also claimed coach of the year honors twice. Fifteen different times Marauders were named the NSIC athlete of the week.
In the classroom, Marauders student-athletes claimed 113 Northern Sun all-academic citations and another 11 earned national academic honors. The NSIC all-academic figure is one of the best in the conference.
U-Mary also made impressive national gains, finishing 57th in the 2010-11 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings and improving 90 slots from the previous year. The Director’s Cup is based on school performances at NCAA Division II championship events.
A highly successful season was highlighted by a 9th-place national championship finish for the Marauders women's indoor track and field team while the women's cross country team placed 11th in the country. The women's outdoor track and field team finished 25th. Men's basketball made its first NCAA tournament appearance, two Marauders became the first U-Mary NCAA men's track and field All-Americans at the indoor championships and one wrestler advanced to the national tournament.
