After months on the road, on the phone and watching film, Marauders football will announce their 2018 recruiting class on Wednesday, February 7. This is the first day graduating high school student-athletes can sign a National Letters of Intent with the University of Mary and NCAA Division II colleges and universities.
 
As NLIs and commitment letters are received by the University of Mary compliance office, Marauders Sports Information will update this page throughout the day. Updates will also be posted on twitter at @UMaryFB and @umarysports.
 
Marauders football will host a Signing Day Social on Wednesday, February 7, at the Ramkota Hotel and Conference Center. Free and open to the public, a social begins at 5 pm with new Head Football Coach Craig Bagnell introducing his coaching staff and the Class of 2018 signing class at 6 pm. Team captain at Lake Brantley High School in Altamonte Springs, FL… Voted MVP in the secondary at Lake Brantley as well as earned Patriot of the Week honors… Compiled 68 total tackles, 3 interceptions, 5 forced fumbles, and 1 touchdown as a senior… First Team All-Conference, All-District… Son of Doreen and Rooster Thomas… Will major in either Business or Engineering at the University of Mary.



Malik Clark (Safety, 5-10, 185, Fr., Orlando, FL / Dr. Phillips HS)
Started at Safety for perennial powerhouse Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, FL… Helped guide the team to a 13-2 finish and state championship… Compiled 35 tackles and 1 tackle for loss as a senior… Son of Precious Harris… will major in Business Management with an Art minor at the University of Mary.




Cedric Johnson (LB, 6-0, 218, FR., Dallas, TX / Sachse High School)
A 2015, 2016, and 2017 1st team all-conference performer…A standout at Linebacker for the Mustangs…Recorded an impressive 101 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 2 forced fumbles, and 2 sacks his senior season…The son of Darlene Perkins…Will major in Business at the University of Mary…Will pursue his MBA post undergraduate degree at the University of Mary.




Jonah Krebs (LB, 6-0, 195, Fr., Bismarck, ND / St. Mary's Central High School)
Part of three AA State Championships 2014, 2016 and 2017 throughout his high school career… All-Conference selection in 2017… amassed 71 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, had 14 receptions for 80 yards and two touchdowns, ran for 830 yards and 11 touchdowns, also recorded two kick returns for touchdowns his senior year… multi-sport athlete lettered four times in baseball… son of Sandra and Vance Krebs… brother of current Marauder Noah Krebs… Will major in Exercise Science at the University of Mary.



Trevor Modeste (Outside Linebacker, 5-10, 190, Fr., Orlando, FL / Jones High School)
Team captain at Edgewater High School in 2016… Team Impact Player Award recipient at Jones High School in 2017… Helped guide Edgewater High School to a District Championship in 2015 and Jones High School to a District Championship in 2017… Two time First Team All-Conference at Edgewater High School from 2015 to 2016, First Team All-Conference at Jones High School in 2017… Multi-sport athlete, participated in football and wrestling… Son of Theresa Smith… Will major in Business at the University of Mary.




Jason Hoekstra (QB, 5-11, 195, Fr., Bismarck, ND / Legacy High School)
Three-time team captain that led his team to two straight AAA playoff appearances in 2016 and 2017… Two-time All-State selection and Two-time WDA All-Conference at Quarterback… Threw for 4,971 yards and 49 Touchdowns and ran for 735 yards and 9 touchdowns in his career at Legacy High School…multi-sport athlete that lettered in Basketball, Baseball and Track & Field... Son of Nicole and Dave Hoekstra… Will major in Social Studies Education at the University of Mary.




Maxwell Askew (LB, 5-11, 194, Fr., Fern Park, FL / Lake Howell High School)
A defensive force for Lake Howell High School…2nd Team All-Conference...had 91 tackles, 8 TFL's, 1 INT, and 2 forced fumbles his senior season…played in both the Cure Bowl All-Star game and the Shrine Bowl All-Star game. He intends to major in Pre-Med.




Ronald DiMatteo (OL, 6-3, 286, Fr., Orlando, FL / West Orange High School)
Helped West Orange High School achieve a seven win season during his senior year…Part of the Warrior offensive line playing against some of the top teams in the state of Florida…Intends on majoring in Business Administration.
 



Lasia Moua (WR, 5-7, 160, Fr., Menasha, WI / Menasha High School)
Voted Team Captain as a senior… As a senior had 50 receptions, 751 yards and 3 touchdowns... Finished his career with 72 receptions, 1150 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns along with being school's single season leader in receiving yards… 1st Team All-Bay Conference Wide Receiver as a senior… 2nd Team All-Bay Conference Wide Receiver as a junior... 2017 Al Toon Preseason Watch List Candidate for Top Receiver in Wisconsin… Four Varsity Football Letters, Two Baseball Varsity Letters and One Varsity Letter for Track… Will major in Criminal Justice at the University of Mary.



Kyle Niemeyer (DL, 6-1, 245, Fr., Bismarck, ND / Legacy High School)
Team captain that led his team to two straight AAA playoff appearances in 2016 and 2017… amassed 28 tackles, 2 sacks and 6 tackles for loss his senior year… multi-sport athlete that qualified for state in the shot put as a junior…Son of Jolee and Kevin Niemeyer… Is undecided on a major at the University of Mary.




Jordan Velarde (QB, 6-6, 230, Jr., Blythe, CA / Palo Verde HS / Chaffey Junior College)
Transfer from Chaffey Junior College… 2-time offensive player of week at Chaffey… As a HS senior, he threw for 1,100 yards, 11 TD's, and ran for 379 yards… Son of Thomas and Tammy Velarde… Will major in Psychology at the University of Mary. 




Gabriel Torbert (RB, 5-7, 175, Fr., Aberdeen, SD / Aberdeen Roncalli (SD) High School)
First team all-conference selection at running back as a senior… multi-sport athlete, Gabe also competed in lacrosse… Son of James Torbert and Andrea Kost… Will major in Exercise Science at the University of Mary. 




Nathan Stewart (DL, 6-5, 275, Fr., Alexandria, SD / Hanson (SD) High School)
First team all-state defensive end as a senior… Earned first team all-conference honors as a defensive lineman his sophomore, junior, and senior years… All-state honorable mention defensive lineman as a junior… Multi-sport athlete, Nathan also competes on the basketball team, earning all-conference honors as a sophomore and junior… Tied the single game record for most sacks in a game as a sophomore… Co-team captain for the football and basketball programs… Son of Dulci and Russell Stewart… Will major in Criminal Justice at the University of Mary.




Devin Beck (LB, 6-0, 205, Fr., Bismarck, ND / Legacy High School)

Two-time team captain and two-time all-conference football player… 125 Rushing attempts for 898 yards, 10 receptions for 236 yards, 62 solo and 11 assisted tackles as a senior in 2018… NSAA Academic All-State in Football and Track & Field… Son of Tyler and Kelli Mason… Will major in Bio-Chemistry at the University of Mary.




Kyle Elder (Cornerback, 6-0, 175, Fr., Rapid City, SD / Rapid City Central HS)
Team MVP at Rapid City Central High School in Rapid City, SD… Finished his senior season with 26 receptions for 514 yards and 3 touchdowns… Compiled 37 total tackles, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, and 1 interception… Three-sport athlete, competed in football, basketball, and track and field… Member of National Honor Society and the National Society of High School Scholars… Son of Renata and Derek Elder… Will major in Pre-Physical Therapy at the University of Mary.




Jacob Thomsen (LB, 5-11, 227, Fr., Thompson, ND / Thompson High School)
Team Captain in 2017… Part of the 2016 9-Man State Championship squad his junior year… First Team All-conference his senior year… amassed 52 tackles, 3 sacks, and 1 fumble forced his senior year… multi-sport athlete lettered four times in Track and Field… Son of Stacey and Brad Thomsen… Brother of current Marauder Dylan Thomsen… Will major in Pre-Med at the University of Mary.




Danny Kittner (WR, 5-10, 167, FR Gilbert AZ / Higley High School)
In 2017 was named All-Region and All-Academic…As WR 8 catches 220yds & 4TDs…As a DB 39 tackles, 4 INTs, 1 forced fumble…As a Kick Returner averaged 32.8 yards per return and as a Punt Returner averaged 19.5 yards per return with 4 TDs…son of Dan and Suzette Kittner…will major in Sports Communications at the University of Mary.




Tyler Stevens (FB, 5-7, 190, Fr., Great Falls, MT / Great Falls Central Catholic High School)
Voted Team Captain as a senior… Finished his career with a total of 202 tackles, 7 sacks, 24 Tackles for Loss, 2 Fumble Recoveries, and 1 Defensive TD... Received 1st team All-Conference both offensively and defensively his Junior and Senior year, Along with 1st team All-State... Four Varsity Football Letters, Three Varsity Wrestling Letters… One of top wrestlers in the state of Montana… Son of Jamie Stevens and stepfather Matt Stevens… Will major in Athletic Training / Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of Mary.




Kade Lynch (WR, 6-1, 170, Fr., Bismarck, ND / Bismarck Century High School)
Voted Team Captain as a senior... Finished his career with 65 catches, 952 receiving yards, 11 TDs, holds the school record with 8 INTs… All-Conference DB and WR as a Junior, along with All-State recognition at DB… As a senior was All-Conference and All-State at WR... Three Varsity Football Letters, Three Varsity Basketball Letters... Loves to hunt and fish… sister ran Track & Field for UMary… son of Mike and Jan Lynch... Dallas Pena (OL, 6-5, 295, Fr., Surprise AZ / Valley Vista High School)
2017 Team Captain…1st Team All Region in 2017…Offensive Lineman of the Year (D.O.L.A. Award) in 2017…2-time Max Preps Player of the Week…Academic Honor Roll 3 years and counting…son of Jesse Pena and Charleen Murphy…will major in Veterinary Sciences at the University of Mary.




Jacob Morris (RB, 5-10, 220, Fr., Miles City, MT / Custer County District High School)
Senior year rushed for over 1,200 yards with 20 TD's and had 5 sacks on defense… 3-Time All-Conference RB, and 2-Time All-State RB... Multi-sport athlete in high school earning four Varsity Football Letters, two Varsity Wrestling Letters, two Track and Field Varsity Letters, and one Soccer Varsity Letter… Son of Christopher and Janet Morris… Will major in Biology at the University of Mary.




Demond Harp (OLB, 6-2, 211, Fr., Winter Garden, FL / West Orange High School)
Was a key member of the Warrior defense at West Orange High School…Helped his team reach the seven win mark his senior season as they won five straight games to cap off the year...Had 72 tackles, 8 TFLs, 4 sacks, 1 INT, and 4 PBUs during his senior season…Was named the Defensive MVP of the Gergley Grid Iron Bowl…Intends on majoring in Business Administration.




Davon Jones (RB, 5-8, 175, FR, Avondale AZ / La Joya High School)
2017 Team Captain…All-Conference 2016 and 2017 seasons…Team Offensive Player of the Year both 2016 and 2017 seasons…rushed for 2,479 yards, averaging 6 yards per carry and 34 TDs in his career…son of Dion and Paula Jones…will major in Business Finance at the University of Mary.




DeShawn Cockrell (RB, 6-0, 190, Fr., Minneapolis, MN / Wayzata High School)
The two-time leading rusher for Wayzata High School… helped lead his team to the playoffs in 2017… First team all-district in 2017… ran for 503 yards and 3 touchdowns his senior year… Son of Tasha Nutall and Danta Cockrell… will major in Sociology at the University of Mary.




Skyler Bossert (WR, 5-7, 150, Fr. Mandan, ND / Mandan High School)
Capped off his senior year with 23 carries for 48 yards and a TD, along with 21 catches for 238 yards… On defense had 28 tackles and 2 INTs...  Was awarded the "Raise the Bar Award" by his coaches which was a player that showed the core values of the program in practice, games, weights, and in the community... Multi-Sport athlete for the Mandan Braves earning three Varsity Letters in Track & Field as well as three Varsity Letters in Football... Most memorable moment in high school athletics was beating Bismarck Legacy High School in OT… Son of Jayme Bossert and Nerissa Hellman... will major in Business at the University of Mary. 




Christopher Thiel (LB, 6-0, 200, Fr., Wahpeton, ND / Wahpeton High School)
Team captain senior year… Second team All-State in 2017… Amassed 109 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and 1 interception his senior year… multi-sport athlete that lettered in wrestling and baseball… son of Rhonda and Scott Thiel… father Scott played football at University of Mary… will major in Exercise Science at the University of Mary.




Jaylen Salazar (RB, 5-9, 180, Fr., Coon Rapids MN / Coon Rapids High School)
In the 2017 season Jaylen totaled 1,054 yards on 164 carries for 6.4 yards per carry and 11 TDs…Earned a Letter in both Football and Baseball…Son of Jarred and Sara Salazar…will major in Sports Management at the University of Mary.




Taylor Morrison (DL, 6-4, 220, Fr., Bismarck, ND / Legacy High School)
Team captain that led his team to two straight AAA playoff appearances in 2016 and 2017… WDA Honorable Mention all-conference as a junior and WDA all-conference as a senior… amassed 15 tackles, 1 sack and 4 tackles for loss as a senior… multi-sport athlete that lettered in Basketball and Track and Field… Son of Melody and Justin Morrison… Will major in Engineering at the University of Mary.




Tyree Shepherd (OL, 6-2, 265, Fr., Henderson, NV / Foothill (NV) High School)
Second team All-Southeastern Division selection as a senior… Offensive Lineman of the Year at Foothill HS… Selected as an offensive lineman for all-star game in Las Vegas as a senior… Team captain as a senior… Member of the National Honor Society his senior year… Graduating high school with an advanced diploma with high honors… Son of Troy and Lhoree Shepherd… Will major in Criminal Justice at the University of Mary.




Noah Wamsher (Safety, 6-0, 165, Fr., Sturgis, SD / Sturgis Brown HS)
Team captain and running back MVP at Sturgis Brown High School in South Dakota… Compiled 36 tackles and 2 interceptions as a senior… First Team All-Conference as a senior, honorable mention All-Conference as a junior… Son of Bob and Debbie Wamsher… Will major in Education at the University of Mary.




Estevan Barragan (RB, 5-8, 185, Fr., Ceres, CA / Central Valley (CA) High School)
Blue-Gray All-American… 2017 Bee's All-District Team… Western Athletic Conference Most Outstanding Offensive Player as a senior… 3-time first team all-league DB… 2-time defensive player of the year… 2-time Taco Bell Athlete of the Week… First team all-league RB… Team captain as a senior… Won team offensive & defensive most valuable player in 2017… Complied 1,111 yards rushing, 503 yards receiving, and had 230 return yards his senior season… HS head football coach Scott Edwards was the offensive coordinator at UMary in 2013… Son of Erica and Jose Barragan… Will major in Psychology at the University of Mary. 




Bryan Lumsden (RB, 5-8, 223, Fr., Clermont, FL / East Ridge High School)
A three-year varsity letterman at East Ridge High School… Was a team captain and accounted for 900 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns in his senior season… His senior season included wins over all in-town rivals on their way to an appearance in the Florida state play-offs… Intends on majoring in Sports Management at the University of Mary.




Vincent Meloy (OL, 6-5, 285, Fr., Gilbert AZ / Williams Field High School)
All-Conference offensive lineman 2016 and 2017…Won an Arizona State Football Championship in 2016…Earned a Letter in both Football and Basketball…Son of Ken and Tricia Meloy…Will major in Business at the University of Mary.




Braxton Harms (Cornerback, 5-8, 170, Fr., Henderson, NV / Green Valley High School)
Team captain, helped lead Green Valley High School in Henderson, NV to its first 10-win season since 2011… Voted Athlete of the Month, 3-time Player of the Game Award recipient… Finished his career with 31 receptions for 498 yards and 7 touchdowns, 115 yards rushing, 918 all-purpose yards, 13 total touchdowns, 98 tackles, and 3 interceptions… Second Team All-Conference Safety as a junior and senior, Second Team All-Conference Athlete as a senior… Received Scholar Athlete honors as well as an Advanced Honors Diploma… Son of Jon and Cinnamon Harms… Will major in the Pre-Chiropractic field at the University of Mary.





Chase Kopp (TE, 6-3, 200, FR., Henderson, NV / Green Valley High School)
A 2017 team captain, Max Preps special teams and defensive player of the week…57 tackles, 37 solo tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 3 forced fumbles, and 3 fumble recoveries as a senior…A multi-sport athlete in high school…Also competed in track and wrestling…The son of Christi and John Kopp…Will major in Engineering/Business at the University of Mary.




Armon Johnson (DB, 5-9, 165, Fr., Dallas, TX / Prosper High School)
A 2017 1st team all-district defensive back… A key part in the success of a stellar defensive attack…Recorded 70 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 4 pass break ups as a senior… A multi-sport athlete in high school competing track and football… Was named student of the month… The son of Lechresha and Earl Johnson… Will major in Business Marketing at the University of Mary.




Antonio Cuevas (Safety, 5-9, 180, Fr., Phoenix, AZ / Saguaro HS)
Defensive MVP at Saguaro High School in Scottsdale, AZ… Helped guide Saguaro to four straight state championships… Finished senior year with 63 total tackles, 18 of which came in one game, and 1 interception… Received All-District, All-Region, and All-State honors as a senior… Son of Vanessa Blanco and Ben Cuevas and step father Albert Blanco… Will major in Biology at the University of Mary.
 

 

Bryan Isom (LB, 5-10, 196, Fr., Mascotte, FL / South Lake High School)
A big time impact player at South Lake High School… played on both sides of the ball… his best game included 5 touchdowns and 13 tackles… intends on majoring in Business Administration at the University of Mary.




Cody Mehlhoff (RB, 5-10, 180, Fr., Wing, ND / Kidder County (ND) High School)
A 2017 team captain… Rushed for a career high 128 yards on 6 carries and 2 TDs against South Border as a Junior… Son of Joy and Blaine Mehlhoff… Will major in Business Communications at the University of Mary.




Israel Robinson (DB, 5-9, 160, Fr., Henderson, NV / Green Valley (NV) High School)
First team All-Southeastern Division selection as a senior… 5-time varsity letter winner in football and in track… logged 12 tackle and 5 interceptions as a senior… Son of Tracey Robinson… Will major in Nursing at the University of Mary.




Reggie Scott (RB, 6-0, 188, Fr., Altamonte Springs, FL / Lyman High School)
An explosive weapon on the offense at Lyman High School…assisted his team in averaging over thirty points per game his senior year…played in the Shrine Bowl All-Star game…Intends on majoring in Business Administration while at the University of Mary.
