BISMARCK, ND – There was no easing into the Northern Sun volleyball schedule for the University of Mary as the Marauders hosted #24 Northern State University in the conference opener. One of seven conference teams ranked in the nation, the Wolves swept past the Marauders 3-0 (25-9, 25-15, 25-10).
The Marauders were limited to 23 kills on the night and a hitting percentage of .012. Senior
Lauren Randall paced the squad with eight kills. Freshman
Katja Berge added six. Another freshman,
Jody Heidel, registered eight digs.
Northern State clicked along at a .516 hitting percentage. Hailey Busch and Laura Snyder tied for game-high honors with nine kills each.
The Wolves held an 11-2 edge in blocks.
UMary next visits MSU Moorhead on Saturday, Sept. 16, at 3 pm, the start of a four-game road excursion.
