BISMARCK, ND – Bismarck Century High School graduate and two-time all-state selection Jordyn Jossart will transfer to the University of Mary from NCAA Division I Marist College, announced Marauders women's basketball coach
Rick Neumann.
Jossart, a 2015 graduate of Century, will have three years of eligibility at UMary after missing one season at Marist due to injury and competing last season for the Red Foxes as a redshirt freshman.
"We are very excited to have Jordyn join our program," said Neumann. "She is a young woman that we recruited extremely hard out of high school. It's always great to have a Bismarck athlete at UMary and Jordyn will continue our tradition of having a player from Ron Metz's highly successful Bismarck Century basketball team.
"We really wanted to address our guard depth this year. Jordyn brings a great skill set with her ability to pass and shoot the ball. We were the worst 3-point shooting team in the Northern Sun last year and Jordyn certainly addresses that need. She is known as a sniper from three. We are confident she can play the wing and point guard position for us and help solidify our perimeter. She will join what we feel is the best sophomore class in the league. Our future is very bright and we are counting on Jordyn to make big contributions to that success."
A 5-8 guard, Jossart missed the 2015-16 season at Marist while recovering from an injury. In 2016-17 she played 18 games and averaged 0.8 PPG as the Red Foxes went 15-17 in the MAAC (Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference).
Jossart earned first team all-state honors as a senior at Century in 2015 after averaging 14.6 points per game and 3.0 rebounds per game and leading the Patriots to a runner-up finish at the state tournament. The WDA Senior Athlete of the Year, Jossart scored over 1,000 points in her career. She was a second team selection in 2014. A three-time all-WDA choice, Jossart helped the Patriots win a state title in 2012 and 2013 and played on four WDA regular season championship teams.
Jossart becomes the third member of the Marauders 2017 recruiting class. Macy Williams of Sussex, WI, and Laurel Kucharski of Lockport, IL, committed to UMary during the early signing period in November 2016.
