MARSHALL, MN – Competing in the inaugural Mustang Open, the University of Mary men's track & field team claimed a trio of titles in the two-day event as
Isaac Walth,
Luxon Glor and
Sam Mackedanz all finished atop the leader board.
In addition to the three wins, the Marauders also snared four runner-up finishes.
Walth and
Andrew Pike started the meet in outstanding fashion, finishing 1-2 in the javelin. A junior, Walth had the longest toss of the day at 164-5 in just his second meet of the season. Not far behind was Pike. The freshman took second with a throw if 163-10.
Glor captured the 200 meter dash with a clocking of 21.91 seconds. He later ran the lead leg of the Marauders second-place 4x100 meter relay team. Joining with
Zack Graves,
Connor Graves and
Colton Stoltz, the quartet combined for a time of 42.22 seconds.
Mackedanz tied for first in the high jump. The sophomore cleared the bar at 1.98 meters, equaling the effort of Jonas Matzen of MSU-Moorhead. Right behind claiming the next two slots were
Shenley Allen and
Jack Lamb. Both topped out at 1.93 meters as Mary claimed three of the top four places.
Senior
Adam Cebulla picked up a pair of second place finishes. With a time of 57.18 seconds, he was the runner-up in the 400 meter hurdles. He additionally teamed with Austin Lucerno,
Gabriel Wyllie and Josh Wolfekuehle to snare second in the 4x400 meter relay in a time of 3:25.81, placing only behind a team from NCAA Division I South Dakota State.
Tyrell Rosencranz posted a pair of top four finishes. He took second in the long jump (22-05.75) and was fourth in the triple jump (46-04.25).
Talon Staudinger was close behind Rosencranz in the long jump, taking fourth with a mark of 21-04.00.
Marceau Jovin checked in at fourth place in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.76 seconds.
In addition to his effort on the 4x400 relay team, Wolfekuhle was third in the 400 meter hurdles (57.94 seconds).
The Marauders next host the Al Bortke Open at the MDU Resources Community Bowl on Saturday, April 8.
