BISMARCK, ND – The supporting cast took on starring roles as the University of Mary women's basketball team rolled past Yellowstone Christian College 53-30 in the Marauders best defensive game since 2010. This was UMary's last non-conference game of the season.
Despite resting their top four scorers, the Marauders limited the Centurions to 30 points and a 28.3 shooting percentage. It was the fewest points allowed by UMary since holding Briarcrest to 20 points in November 2010.
Jordyn Jossart led the Marauders with 17 points. The sophomore hit five treys in the game. She also added two assists and two steals.
Macy Williams hit 4-of-5 shots and scored eight points for the Marauders. The freshman added three assists and two steals.
Kaylee Hinson came off the bench to score nine points, also making 4-of-5 field goal attempts. She also added a game-high four assists.
Shea Heidlebaugh chipped in eight points, four rebounds and three steals.
Isabel Schmelzer and
Anna Schmelzer led a dominant rebounding effort for UMary. Both sisters hauled down nine rebounds. Isabel added five points and Anna had three blocks and two steals. Overall UMary led in rebounding 46-24.
Taneil Poiter led Yellowstone with seven points.
The Marauders return to Northern Sun action on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 1-2, when MSU Moorhead and Northern State University visit.
