BROOKINGS, SD – Facing their toughest competition of the season, including four NCAA Division I programs, the University of Mary men's and women's track & field teams registered four NCAA provisional qualifying marks and 12 top-six finishes.
Sophomore
Luxon Glor continued his outstanding season for the men's teams with a pair of NCAA provisional distances in the jumps and two top-3 finishes. The native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, used a career-best effort in the triple jump of 14.47 meters to place second in the event. Glor then took home third place with a leap of 7.08 meters. Both marks were tops among Northern Sun competitors at the meet.
Two other Marauders earned sixth place finishes for the men's squad.
Freshman
Sam Wilke claimed sixth in the 600 meter run in a time of 1:24.45.
Posting his best mark of the season, sophomore
Sam Mackedanz cleared the bar at 1.95 meters to finish sixth in the high jump. Freshman
Shenley Allen also cleared 1.95 meters but placed 10
th.
Beau Nutting grabbed sixth in the triple jump when the junior sailed 13.76 meters on his best effort of the day.
Two members of the Mary women's squad notched provisional qualifying times.
Sophomore Maria Bolibruch just missed her best time of the season in the 60 meter hurdles by .02 seconds but her clocking in the preliminaries of 8.68 seconds is an NCAA provisional mark. After posting the best time in the preliminaries, Bolibruch claimed fifth in the finals. She later teamed with Julia Hammerschmidt, Nelecia Richards and Melanie Rodriguez to place fifth in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:54.03.
Freshmen Tanesha Davis recorded her best collegiate time in the finals of the 60 meter dash to place third overall. Her clocking of 7.70 seconds is an NCAA provisional qualifying time. She also placed eighth in the 200 meter dash.
Rodriguez added a sixth place finish in the 400 meter dash to her fifth in the relay. The senior was clocked in 57.93 seconds.
Hammerschmidt tied for the Marauders women's best finish of the day, claiming third in the 600 with a career-best time of 1:36.30. Close behind in fifth place was Nelicia Richards with a season-best mark of 1:37.34.
Junior Jasmyn Garcia posted her best mark of the season in the long jump at 5.13 meters to finish fifth.
Mary next competes at the Minnesota State University Open on Jan. 27-28 and the Cobber Invitational on Jan. 28.
