MOORHEAD, Minn. – With the end of their collegiate careers fast approaching, seniors
Dustin Rueb and
Molly McDonald continue to improve. In their last outing before the Northern Sun championships, the University of Mary duo both produced career bests while claiming the men's and women's high jump titles at the Ron Mansanz Classic.
One day after winning the high jump title at the Bison Tune up while posting an NCAA provisional qualifying height and a personal record, McDonald bettered herself with a trip across the river. The native of Lakewood. Colorado, cleared the bar at 5-07.25. It was .75 better than her top mark in Fargo and another NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
Fellow senior
Josie Guptill, the only other member of the Marauders women's track & field team to complete in the Mansanz Classic, had her best day of the season. The All-American from Quinn, S.D., won the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 1:02.16. It was Guptill's best mark of the season and an NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
Rueb won the men's crown with an effort of 6-8, tying his career best. The Beulah, N.D., native reached the NCAA provisional qualifying standards and currently owns the third best mark among Northern Sun student-athletes in the high jump.
Additionally Rueb placed fifth in the long jump with a top effort of 6.46 meters.
Overall the Marauders had another big day in the high jump, claiming three of the top five finishes.
Freshmen Sam Mackendanz and
Jack Lamb both cleared the bar at 1.88 meters. Mackedanz took third and Lamb fifth via tiebreaking procedures.
The Marauders next compete at the Northern Sun championships on May 13-14 in Sioux Falls, S.D.
