Marauders women claim ten titles to dominate Al Bortke Open

BISMARCK, N.D. – Performing at home for the lone time this season, the University of Mary women's track & field team put on a show. The Marauders dominated the Al Bortke Open, capturing ten titles on the day, including nine individual crowns by nine different student-athletes.
 
All-American Faith Kjelstrup won the 100 meter dash in 12.35 seconds. The Glendive, Montana, native also placed second in both the long jump (5.47 meters) and the triple jump (11.47 meters).
 
Chante Spotser (Federal Way, Washington) cruised to an easy win in the 400 meter dash, posting a time of 57.60 seconds.
 
Freshman Jackie Harmon (Fargo, N.D.) captured the 800 meter title in a time of 2:25.28. Her clocking of 4:55.14 was the second best among collegians in the 1,500 meter run
 
Jaiden Schuette, a freshman from Bismarck, N.D., had the best time among collegians in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:52.68. She was second among college athletes in the 3,000 meter run (10:57.12).
 
In the 100 meter hurdles, freshman Maria Bolibruch (North Kingstown, Rhode Island) cleared the barriers in 14:09 seconds to place just ahead of teammates Molly McDonald (Lakewood, Colorado) and Julia Hammerschmidt, who placed second and third.
 
Hammerschmidt,a freshman from Hinrichshagen, Germany, claimed the 400 meter hurdles in 1:02.85.
 
The Marauders also won the 4x400 meter hurdles as Josie Guptill (Quinn, S.D.), Spotser, Schuette and Hammerschmidt posted a time of 4:01.93.
 
McDonald, a senior from Lakewood, Colorado, cleared the bar at 1.61 meters to win the high jump title.
 
All-American Davina Carr of Nine Mile Falls, Washington, posted a height of 3.80 meters to capture the pole vault title.
 
Sophomore Jasmyn Garcia (Las Vegas, Nevada) had the top effort in the triple jump, edging Kjelstrup with an effort of 11.50 meters.
 
Even Marauders alumni had a big day. All-American and 2013 national cross country champion Jennifer Agnew had the top times of the day in two events. Agnew ran the 1,500 meter run in 4:43.76 and the 3,000 meter run in 10:09.83.
 
The Marauders next compete in three different meets in California on April 14-16 and at the Blue Hawk Games in Dickinson, N.D., on April 16.
