Jessop, Zeis post new school records on first day in California

CALIFORNIA - Alexis Zeis opened up her sophomore outdoor season with a 5,000 meter race at Azusa Pacific University at the the Bryan Clay Invitational last night in the only way she knows how, with a beautifully crafted race strategy that resulted in an NCAA provisional qualifying time and a new University of Mary school record.

Chris Jessop showed his versatility by running his first track 10k at Cerritos Colleges at the Mt. Sac Relays with a new school record of 31:30.37.  Jessop was fresh off setting the school record in the 3,000 meters last weekend as well.

Jessop now owns five University of Mary school records with the indoor 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters, as well as the outdoor 3,000 meters, 5,000 meters, and 10,000 meters.

Several other Marauder track & field student\ athletes will be competing today at Azusa Pacific University at the second day of the Bryan Clay Invitational.  Then the team will compete at Long Beach State University at the Beach Invitational Saturday.
