BEMIDJI, Minn. – In one final tune-up before the Northern Sun men's indoor track & field championships, the University of Mary picked up five wins and one NCAA provisional qualifying mark at the Bemidji State University Twilight meet.
Freshman
Sam Mackedanz keynoted the Marauders efforts. The freshman from Cold Springs, Minn., rocketed to a victory in the high jump. On his final attempt of the day, Makedanz cleared the bar at a height of 6-08.00. Not just the best effort of his college career, it is also his first NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
Mackedanz nudged out teammate
Dustin Rueb for the high jump crown. The two were tied at 6-06.75 entering the final round. Rueb also took second in the long jump.
Also claiming a title in a field event was
Jensen Roseboom. The junior from Turah, Mont., rose above the ground 14-09.50 and cleanly cleared the pole vault bar.
The Marauders also picked up wins in three races covering short, middle and long distances.
In the 200 meter dash,
Corey Berner covered the distance in 23.02 for the win. The sophomore from Las Vegas, Nev., followed up with a second place finish in the 60 meter dash.
Gabriel Wylie won the 600 meter dash in a time of 1:26.40. The freshman edged out teammate
Adam Cebulla in the event.
Tyler Erickson claimed the top spot in the 1,000 meter run with his time of 2:37.77.
The Marauders next return to action February 26-27 at the Northern Sun indoor championships in Mankato, Minn.
