Steeplechase Wins Highlights Marauders Wins at Masanz Classic

MOORHEAD, Minn. – A sweep of the steeplechase highlighted the University of Mary's shorthanded efforts at the Ron Mansanz Classic. After many members of the Marauders men's and women's outdoor track & field team competed on Friday and with graduation at Mary today, a small contingent of Marauders still captured four titles.

Thomas Neale and Kennedy Robbins captured the men's and women's steeplechase, respectively. Neale posted a time of 9:51.60 over the 3,000 meter course. Robbins topped all competitors with a clocking of 11:18.96.

On his final collegiate meet prior to the Northern Sun championships next weekend, Jordan Washington breezed past the competition in the 400 meter run. The senior from Katy, Texas, beat all comers with a time of 48.56 seconds.

All-American Davina Carr defeated the field in the pole vault. The senior from Nine Mile Falls, Wash., recorded the Marauders only NCAA provisional qualifying mark of the day when she crossed the bar at 11' 10".

Only a handful of other Marauders competed. For the women's side, Julie Dinius placed second in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.35. Kaycee Luke was third in the pole vault after clearing 10' 10.25".

Rounding out the men's results was a fourth place finish in the 200 meter dash by Corey Berner in a time of 22.54 seconds.

The Marauders next compete at the Northern Sun championships on May 8-9.
