DICKINSON, N.D. – Two wins and a runner-up finish by
Travis Gavin paced the University of Mary men's outdoor track & field team at the Blue Hawk Games on Saturday. Overall the Marauders won seven events.
A senior from Blaine, Minnesota, Gavin captured the shot put with a distance of 14.36 meters. He then won the discus with a top toss of 46.58 meters. Gavin claimed second in the hammer throw after a toss of 50.36 meters on his final throw of the day.
Jordan Washington claimed a win in the 400 meter dash for the second straight meet as the senior posted a mark of 48.98 seconds.
Jay Cooper blazed his way to a win in the 400 meter hurdles win with a mark of 54.33 seconds. He also took second in the 100 meter hurdles (15.25 seconds)
Thomas Neale captured the 1,500 steeplechase with a mark of 9:44.03.
In the pole vault,
Jensen Roseboom cleared 4.40 meters to win the event.
The Marauders final win of the day was by
William Kaigler in the triple jump. The junior sailed 14.9 meters to take the top spot.
Cory Berner posted two second place finishes, in the 200 meter dash (22.27 seconds) and the 100 meter dash (11.10 seconds).
Also posting a runner-up finish was
Isaac Walth, who placed second in the javelin with a throw of 47.95 meters.
The Marauders will next compete at the Al Cassell Relays in Jamestown, North Dakota, on April 25.
