AZUSA, California – Facing some of the best competition of the season,
Danylle Kurywchak rose to the occasion to win the triple jump with a record-setting performance at the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific University.
Competing in her home state against numerous NCAA Division I student-athletes, Kurywchak popped the best jump of the meet when she sailed 42' 2.25" on her third attempt of the day. The native of Cameron Park, California, broke her own school record and won the event by three inches. The NCAA automatic qualifying mark keeps the All-American ranked third in NCAA Division II.
In the 5,000 meter run,
Alexis Zeis was the top NCAA Division II finisher and placed 14
th overall out of 130 runners. Her time of 17:06.81 is an NCAA provisional qualifying mark. Earlier in the week the freshman All-American posted a school record and provo time in the 10,000 meter run.
In the 1,500 meter run, both
Katelynn Engh and
Kaycie Stewart posted a career-best times. Engh covered the distance in 4:44.97 and Stewart recorded a 4:48.16.
Earlier in the meet,
Davina Carr just missed her career-best in the pole vault. Clearing the bar at a provisional qualifying mark of 3.76 meters, Carr finished 13
th overall and trailed just one NCAA Division II performer. The All-American set her career best outside mark of 3.78 meters last Sunday at the Marauder Open.
