CALIFORNIA – The ocean air and the California sun seemingly has been the catalyst for the University of Mary women's outdoor track & field team to post some of their best marks of the season. Competing at the Mt. SAC relays on Thursday and Friday, along with the Bryan Clay Invitational today, the Marauders already have posted one school record and six NCAA provisional qualifying marks.
On Thursday freshman
Alexis Zeis posted a school record in the 10,000 meter run. The Bismarck, N.D., native ran the distance in 35:50.42. The time is also a provisional qualifying mark for the All-American.
Competing in the 3,000 meter steeple chase, sophomore
Kennedy Robbins traversed the course in 11:08.58, also a provisional qualifying time.
Today
Kathryn Stewart recorded the fifth fastest time among NCAA Division II student-athletes this season when the senior All-American blazed her way to a provisional qualifying time of 23.90 seconds. Competing primarily against NCAA Division I runners, Stewart posted the top time among NCAA Division II competitors in the event.
In the 400 meter run,
Cassandra Jones registered a season-best time of 55.82 seconds. It was a provisional qualifying time for the sophomore.
Brienna Lynch ran the 800 meters in 2:12.65, a provisional qualifying mark for the senior.
Rounding out the Marauders efforts at the Mt. SAC Relays was
Crystal Hovland, who recorded a time of 1:03.40 in the 400 meter hurdles.
At the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific University,
Davina Carr just missed her career-best in the pole vault. Clearing the bar at a provisional qualifying mark of 3.76 meters, Carr finished 13
th overall and trailed just one NCAA Division II performer. The All-American set her career best outside mark of 3.78 meters last Sunday at the Marauder Open.
