SPEARFISH, S.D. – In the first outdoor competition of the season for the University of Mary men's and women's track & field team, the Marauders combined to capture an impressive 14 wins at the Yellow Jacket Spring Open.

In addition to winning ten of the 18 events at the meet, the U-Mary women combined to post four of the five NCAA automatic or provisional qualifying times recorded on the day.

Three different Marauders captured two individual wins while
Kathryn Stewart also took a third gold with a relay win. The Marauders senior All-American won both the 100 and 200 meter dashes and also ran a leg on the winning 4x100 meter relay team. Stewart posted a provisional qualifying time in the 100 when she covered the distance in 11.84 seconds.

Additionally, Stewart combined with
Tonie Pandohie,
Melanie Rodriguez and
Cassandra Jones to record a provo time of 46.76 seconds in the 4x100, the seventh best mark in the nation.

Danylle Kurywchak, competing for the first time since earning All-American honors at the NCAA indoor championships two weeks ago, won both the triple jump and the long jump. The junior sailed a provisional qualifying distance of 41' 4.5" in the triple and went 18' 9.75" in the long.

Molly McDonald was the third multi-winner for U-Mary. She claimed the high jump at 5' 4.5" and flew through the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 14.73 seconds.

Sophomore
Davina Carr posted the fourth provisional qualifying mark of the day for U-Mary. Also an All-American at the NCAA indoor championships, Carr won the pole vault with a top effort of 11' 11.75".

Racing in her home state,
Josie Guptill cleared the barriers of the 400 meter hurdles in 1:03.84 to capture the event.

Freshman
Kaycie Stewart won the 1,500 meter run in a clocking of 4:55.46.

Competing for the first time this year,
Aaron Teigen posted the lone provisional qualifying mark for the U-Mary men. The senior covered 48' .75" in the triple jump to win the event. He currently ranks tenth in the nation. Teigen also was second in the long jump.

Freshman Cory Burner earned the win in the 400 meter dash when he was clocked in 50.12 seconds.

In the first opportunity to throw the javelin,
Ben Gailfus proved ready. The junior fired off a top toss that covered 185' 0.5" to win the event.
The Marauders fourth win came in the pole vault. Sophomore
Jensen Roseboom cleared the bar at a personal-best 14' 5.25" for the victory.

U-Mary next runs at the Vance Butler Invitational in Sioux Falls, S.D., on April 3.
