JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The 22
nd ranked University of Mary women's cross country team lived up to their national billing and dominated the Jimmie Invitational. The Marauders claimed slots 2-3-4 individually and captured the eight team meet by 33 points.
On a fast course on a warm day,
Kaycie Stewart placed second overall, just two seconds out of first. The sophomore from Corvallis, Mont., cruised the Parkhurst Recreation Area 5K course in just 18:17, barely off the pace of meet champion Makenzie Smith of MSU Moorhead.
Right behind Stewart was freshman
Jaiden Schuette and junior
Katelynn Engh. Schuette posted a mark of 18:24 while Engh clocked an 18:28.
Chelsea Bennis provided the Marauders a fourth top-10 finish as the junior covered the course in 19:11. Rounding out the scoring for U-Mary was
Jackie Harmon. The freshman from Fargo, N.D., claimed 12
th individually at 19:18.
Two other Marauders also places in the top 21 as junior
Kennedy Robbins (19:25) was 14
th overall and freshman
Alyssa Bornhoft (19:57) was 21
st.
Also competing for the Marauders was junior

th in 20:13.80), freshman Destiny Bald Eagle (31
st in 20:15), sophomore
Jessica Nehl (48
th in 21:05), freshman Kamryb Higgins (51
st in 21:21) and freshman
Tess Hoherz (57
th in 22:01).
The Marauders compiled 29 team points to win their second meet of the season in three outings. Third in the Central Region rankings, the Marauders easily outpaced fellow NSIC foe MSU Moorhead. The fourth ranked squad in the region registered 62 points. Other Northern Sun finishers were Northern State in fourth places and Minot State in fifth.
This is the final race for the Marauders prior to the NSIC championships on Oct. 24.
