RESULTSMOORHEAD, Minn. – A 1-2 finish by
Josh Wilson and
Taylor Thompson in the 5,000 meter run highlighted the University of Mary men's track & field efforts at the 2014 Masanz Open.
Wilson ran the longest event of the day in a time of 15:25.69. Thompson finished in 15:39.18. It was the top time for both runners this season.
While Wilson was the only U-Mary athlete to capture an event, several Marauders claimed runner-up slots.
Nathan Inkman placed second in the 800 meter run, covering the distance in 1:58.46. Right behind in third was
Steven Gordon with a clocking of 1:58.94.
Chris Jessop posted a time of 4:03.22 in the 1,500 meter run to place second.
Competing in two events,
Jordan Washington placed fourth in the long jump with an effort of 21' 6.25" and sixth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 50.22. His long jump mark was the best of the year.
In the shot put,
Travis Gavin tossed a season-high distance of 48' 6.25" to place fifth. He also posted his best mark in the hammer with a throw of 154' 7".
The Marauders next compete in the Northern Sun track & field championships on May 9-10 in Winona, Minn.
