Norwalk, Calif. – Chris Jessop made use of great weather and a fast field to set a University of Mary men's track and field record at the Beach Invitational on Saturday, hosted by Long Beach State University.
 
The junior from Corvallis, Mont., covered the 5,000 meter run in a time of 14:41 to break the Marauders record in the event. Jessop placed eighth overall in the event and now ranks fourth among runners in the Northern Sun.
 
Several other Jordan Washington also competed for the Marauders at the Beach Invitational. The junior from Katy, Texas, claimed 15^th in the 400 meter run after posting a mark of 48.95 seconds.
