Bismarck, ND – Three-time all-state performer
Stetson Carr of state champion Hazen (ND) High School will play football and continue his education at the University of Mary, announced Marauders Head Coach Myron Schulz.
The 6-1, 190 pound native of Hazen, ND, led the Bison to the 2012 North Dakota Class A state championship. A starter at both quarterback and safety, Carr rushed for 108 yards and three touchdowns, completed 8-of-10 passes for 177 yards and a score and made seven tackles. Hazen finished the season 10-2.
Carr capped his senior season by earning first team all-state honors at quarterback for a second straight year. He ran for 1,476 yards and 18 touchdowns on 138 carries and passed for 1,184 yards and nine scores. Defensively he led his team in tackles with 93 from his safety position. Carr posted eight tackles for loss, three quarterback sacks, two interceptions and three fumble recoveries.
A first team all-state quarterback as a junior, Carr ran for 1,222 yards and threw for 1,127 yards, leading Hazen to the state semifinals and a record of 11-1.
As a sophomore, Carr led Hazen to the state quarterfinals and a record of 7-3 while earning second team all-state recognition at quarterback. He accumulated 1,503 yards from scrimmage and accounted for 18 touchdowns.
A three-time all-region selection, Carr finished his high school career 27-6 as a starter. He threw for 3,022 yards, ran for 3,495 yards and combined to run and pass for 75 scores.
Carr also earned all-region honors three times in basketball and scored over 1,000 points in his career.
An honor student, a member of the Honor Society and the recipient of the Principal's Award, Stetson is the son of Lorie and Mike Carr. He plans to pursue a degree in physical therapy at U-Mary.
