Jennifer Agnew placed third in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the NCAA Division II Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships to earn All-American honors in the event for the second straight year.
Day two at the national championships for the Marauders also featured
Kathryn Stewart qualifying for Saturday's 200 meter dash final.
Agnew collected her fourth career All-American citation when she posted a scintillating time of 10:38.53 in the steeplechase to claim third place. She was nudged out of second by a scant .17 seconds. Last year the senior from Onamia, MN, placed seventh in the event.
Stewart advanced to the NCAA finals in the 200 meter dash. The sophomore was 8th overall n the preliminaries with a time of 23.73 seconds. The top nine placers qualified for championship Saturday.
Janet Johnson and
Melissa Walker fell short of qualifying for the 100 meter hurdle finals. Walker places 10th and Johnson 12th in preliminaries.
Walker clocked her top time of year in the 100 hurdles, running a 13.73. She was .04 seconds from making finals. Johnson posted a 13.79.
Two Marauders will compete in the NCAA championship finals on Saturday.
Melissa Agnew will race in the 1,500 meter run at 6:35 PM Central. The 11-time All-American clocked the 12th best time in the preliminaries but owns the nation's fastest time in the event this season. Stewart runs in the 200 meter finals at 8:45 PM Central.
