Marauders Rounds Out 2013 Recruiting Class with DeLaSalle Guard Luke Scott

Bismarck, ND – The University of Mary has rounded out its 2013 men's basketball recruiting class with the addition of Luke Scott, who helped lead DeLaSalle High School to back-to-back Minnesota 3A state championships. Marauders Head Coach Jevin Budde announced the commitment of the Islanders team captain to continue his education and play basketball at U-Mary.
 
A 6-2, 190 pound guard from Minneapolis, MN, Scott is a two year starter at DeLaSalle and led the Islanders to back to back state titles.
 
The team captain his senior year, Scott averaged 15.7 points per game and shot nearly 50 per cent on three pointers while leading DeLaSalle to a record of 30-1 and the 2013 Minnesota 3A title. His efforts earned him 1st team all-conference honors and he was selected to the Wells Fargo 2013 Class AAA Minnesota State Boys' Basketball All-Tournament team.
 
As a junior, Scott averaged 14.6 points per game and made 50 per cent of his shots behind the arc as DeLaSalle won the 2012 Minnesota Class 3A state championship. The team posted a record of 26-5 record and Scott received all-conference honors and was selected to the Wells Fargo 2012 Class AAA Minnesota State Boys' Basketball All-Tournament team. 
 
A National Honors Society member and a distinguished scholar who will graduate from DeLaSalle this spring with high honors, Luke is the son of Mary and Kelly Scott. He plans to pursue a degree in Catholic Studies at U-Mary.
 
The Marauders now have two DeLaSalle graduates on the basketball team. Senior guard Jalen Jaspers is entering his fourth season at U-Mary after graduating from DeLaSalle. Jaspers was a key reserve for U-Mary's 2011 squad that qualified for the NCAA tournament and has started the last two seasons.
 
Scott is the ninth member of the Marauders 2013 recruiting class. During the early signing period in November 2012, Coach Budde and U-Mary gained commitments from three high school players, Isaac Lindquist of Milbank, SD, Brenden Mann of Littleton, CO, and Damonta Henry of Chicago, IL. Junior college transfers Chris Mason of Phoenix (AZ) College, Germain Decoste of Laramie (WY) Country Community College and Devan Douglas of Kirkland (IA) College and high school student-athletes Bryan Jefferson (Aurora, IL) and Kevin Klemisch (McCloskey, ND) committed this month during the regular signing period.
