Bismarck, ND - The University of Mary celebrates its athletics history during Homecoming 2012 when two All-Americans and two exceptional teams are inducted into the Marauders Hall of Fame on Friday, September 21. Two-time All-American football player Jake Pfau, All-American women's basketball player Andrea (Ronderos) Erdmann and the 1976-77 and 1977-78 men's basketball teams will be recognized for their athletic accomplishments at this year's annual Alumni Recognition Award and Marauders Hall of Fame Induction event.
Â
This is the 23rd Hall of Fame class for the Marauders as (Ronderos) Erdmann, Pfau and the 1976-77 and 1977-78 men's basketball teams will join 79 other individuals and six teams previously inducted (see complete list at bottom of release).
Â
A dominating wide receiver who twice earned NAIA first team All-America honors, Jake Pfau (2001-04) is the University of Mary's all-time career leader in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns and is second in receptions. The Beulah, ND, native was a two-time All-DAC 10 selection and the conference's Most Valuable Player as a senior in 2004. His career efforts earned him a spot on an NAIA All-Decade Team for the 2000s.
Â
Jake first earned All-American and All-DAC 10 recognition in 2003 after catching 59 passes for 1,038 yards and 16 touchdowns, leading the Marauders to the Elite Eight of the NAIA playoffs and a record of 10-2. He closed out his senior year with a DAC-10 title in 2004, claiming conference MVP honors after snaring 67 passes for 1,042 yards and 10 touchdowns. Jake was also named an NAIA All-American for the second straight year as U-Mary advanced to the NAIA playoffs.
Â
Just the second U-Mary player to earn first team All-American accolades, Jake finished his career with 34 touchdown receptions, 208 points scored, 2,682 reception yards and 161 catches. The only U-Mary player to twice crack 1,000 yards receiving in a single season, Jake holds the record for receptions in a game when he caught 13 passes against the University of Sioux Falls in 2002.
Â
The son of Robert Pfau and Mary and Rick Miller, Jake is a 2005 graduate of the University of Mary with
a degree in business administration. The father of Gabriella Duncan, Jake is a computer labs consultant at the University of Missouri-St. Louis where he is pursuing a master's degree in computer science.
Â
An NAIA All-American and school record-holder for points scored in a single game, Andrea (Ronderos)
Erdmann (2003-06) left an indelible mark on the University of Mary women's basketball program. She led the Marauders to consecutive conference championships in their final two seasons as a member of the Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) and she finished as one of the top scorers in school history.
Â
After transferring to U-Mary from Northern State University, Andrea claimed All-DAC 10 and conference Defensive Player of the Year honors as the Marauders went 17-1 in conference play, 32-3 overall and advanced to the NAIA semifinals. She set a school record when she scored 42 points against South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. For the season, Andrea averaged 13.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.
Â
Andrea led U-Mary to another strong season in 2005 as the Marauders went 29-4 overall, again won the DAC-10 title with a 17-1 record and made the second round of the NAIA tournament. In addition to again earning All-DAC 10 and DAC-10 Defensive Player of the Year honors, she was selected to the All-NAIA third team and earned NAIA Scholar-Athlete accolades.
Â
Her senior season, the Marauders finished 21-7 and Andrea averaged 15.1 points per game as the Marauders began the transition to NCAA. She scored 1,407 points in her career, seventh all-time for the Marauders, and distributed 388 assists (6th).
Â
A native of Washburn, ND, Andrea is the daughter of Pablo and Collette Ronderos. With Andrea's induction, she and Pablo become the first father-daughter pair in the Marauders Hall of Fame. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 2006 and a Master of Education in 2008 from the University of Mary. Currently a stay-at-home mother, fitness instructor, and substitute teacher, Andrea lives in Crookston, MN, with her husband Bruce and their child, Isaac.
Â
The 1976–1977 and 1977–1978 University of Mary men's basketball teams produced two of the greatest consecutive seasons in Marauders history. Under the direction of Head Coach Al Bortke and Assistant Coach Dave Godfread, the two squads combined for 27 straight home wins to turn the McDowell Activity Center into the "Death Dome."
Â
One of the highest-scoring teams in the nation, the 1976–1977 Marauders were a perfect 18-0 at home and posted at least 100 points in 14 games on their way to a record of 25-6. The team averaged 92.9 points per game against four-year schools.
Â
U-Mary would roll to a 23-4 mark in 1977–1978 that included a 16-game win streak and a 15-4 record on the road, one of the best in school history. Another explosive team offensively that averaged over 88 points per game, the Marauders won all nine home games and didn't lose to a team from North Dakota or Montana.
