11 Marauders Named to Women's Track & Field All-Academic Team

New Orleans – Eleven members of the University of Mary women's track and field team have been honored for their combined academic and athletic accomplishments, earning a spot on the 2012 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II All-Academic Track & Field Team.
 
Earning a spot on the All-Academic team are Jennifer Agnew (Onamia, MN), Melissa Agnew (Onamia, MN), Miranda Fehilly (Sidney, MT), Vanessa Friestad (Rugby, ND), Tess Johnson (Henry, SD), Brienna Lynch (Bismarck, ND), Kristyn Nelson (Rollette, ND), Allison Opp (Hazen, ND), Rikki Schmidt (Kintyre, ND), Kathryn Stewart (Kingston, Jamaica) and Dakota Wolf (Dickinson, ND).
 
U-Mary's total of 11 student-athletes named to the All-Academic squad was the second most in the nation. Grand Valley State led the country with 24. Overall, 317 student-athletes from 82 schools were honored.
 
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have reached a provisional or automatic qualifying standard for the NCAA Championships in either indoor or outdoor seasons.
 
One of the nation's top programs, the Marauders placed 11th in the nation at the NCAA outdoor championships and 13th at the indoors while winning the indoor and outdoor Northern State titles.
 
In addition to earning All-Academic honors, six Marauders also claimed NCAA All-American honors: Jennifer Agnew, Melissa Agnew, Fehilly, Schmidt, Stewart and Wolf.
 
Repeat USTFCCCA All-Academic performers from last year include Melissa Agnew, Nelson, Stewart and Wolf.
