Marauders Volleyball Earns AVCA Team Academic Award

July 25, 2012

Lexington, KY - The University of Mary volleyball team has earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2011-2012 season. The AVCA honors academic excellence in programs that post at least a 3.30 team grade point average during the previous academic year.

“Our student-athletes work extremely hard on and off the court,” said Marauders Volleyball Head Coach Steve Novacek. “The past two years the girls have made it a priority to do well is the classroom and putting the time in to get the grades they deserve.

“We are very excited about where we are at academically and we are looking forward to the start of a new school year.”

The Marauders were one of only 69 NCAA Division II teams to receive the academic team award, which is just 12.57 per cent of the teams in D-II.
