Murray Earns Invitation to Minnesota Vikings Rookie Mini-Camp

Bismarck, ND – University of Mary running back Josh Murray has earned an invitation to the Minnesota Vikings rookie mini-camp. The Pepin, WI, native is one of approximately 60 players who will attempt to impress the Vikings coaching and front office staff and earn a contract with the NFL team.

The Vikings rookie mini-camp is set to run Thursday through Sunday, May 3-6, at Winter Park in Eden Prairie, MN.

Murray becomes the second U-Mary player ever to earn a tryout with an NFL team. EJ Reid received a tryout with the St. Louis Rams in 2010 and eventually earned an NFL contract.

Murray's agent, Greg Johnson, announced his client's participation in the tryout through Twitter earlier today. @GJohnsonEsq tweeted “Congrats to client and former North Dakota and Mary RB Josh Murray on his invitation to the Vikings rookie camp.”

In his only season with the Marauders, Murray made an immediate impact. He scored 16 touchdowns to tie for second in the NSIC behind teammate Tyler Steffan, running for 14 scores and catching two others. The senior ran for 1,095 yards on 192 carries, an average of 5.7 yards per attempt, and caught 10 passes for 164 yards. He ran for 100 or more yards in his last four games and five times total during the season. Murray is just the fifth U-Mary runner to gain 1,000 yards or more in a single season.
