Marauders Finish 13th in Nation as Agnew, Wolf and Stewart Earn All-American Honors

Mankato, MN – In a nearly perfect weekend for the University of Mary at the 2012 NCAA Division II women's indoor track and field championships, every U-Mary competitor earned All-American honors in every event U-Mary qualified. Behind this total team effort, the Marauders finished 13th in the nation with 17 team points.
 
Melissa Agnew, Dakota Wolf and Kathryn Stewart all earned All-American honors on the final day. For Agnew and Wolf it was the second straight day earning such recognition after running on the third place Distance Medley Relay team on the opening day.
 
For the second straight year, Agnew earned All-American honors in the mile run. The junior from Onamia, MN, just edged Wolf for fourth place. Agnew posted a time of 4:53.46 to the 4:53.57 registered by Wolf.
 
Stewart, a freshman from Kingston, Jamaica, claimed seventh place in the 200 meter run at her first NCAA championship meet. She ran a 24.86 and finished .04 seconds out of fifth.
 
Agnew is now a 6-time All-American at U-Mary. She has earned the honor twice in the mile, twice as part of the DMR and twice in cross country in her career. Wolf has earned All-American accolades four times, including twice on the DMR, once in the mile and once in cross country.
 
Joining Agnew, Wolf and Stewart as All-Americans was freshman Rikki Schmidt and sophomore Kayla Carlson, who also ran on the DMR team. In all, the five Marauders competed in four events and placed in the top eight in each.
 
Grand Valley State captured the NCAA team crown with 94 points, followed by Adams State with 51. The 2012 Northern Sun indoor champion, U-Mary finished ahead of all other conference teams at the NCAA championships.
