NSIC Names Janet Johnson Women's Track Athlete of the Week

Burnsville, MN – Janet Johnson posted the top time in the conference in the 60 meter hurdles to help the University of Mary sophomore earn Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week recognition. This is the first time Johnson has earned the weekly honor.

The native of Kingston, Jamaica, blazed to an 8.73 second clocking over the barriers in the 60 meter hurdles at the Concordia Cobber Duals last Saturday to take the lead in the event among NSIC performers. A national qualifier in the hurdles a year ago, Johnson came back later in the day to place second in the 60 meter dash in a time of 8.00. The Jamaican speedster also placed fourth in the long jump (17' ½”).

A U-Mary performer has been selected as the NSIC Women's Track Athlete of the Week in consecutive weeks. Junior distance runner Dakota Wolf earned the citation a week ago.

The Marauders next perform at the Iowa State Classic and the NDSU Bison Classic this weekend.
